BAR Expansion
The British Association of Reinforcement (BAR) is pleased to announced the appointments of Graham Mackenzie as Chairman and Martin Southcott as Technical Director. The appointments are part of the Association’s ongoing development as the industry focus and marketing champion for the UK’s reinforcement industry.
Graham Mackenzie is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer with a lifetime of experience in the steel and metals industries, latterly as a Director and Corporate Advisor to Celsa Steel (UK) Limited. He also has wide experience of trade association and representational matters having been both President of the British Welded Steel Tube Association and of the Engineering Employers’ Federation (EEF). Of his appointment, Mr Mackenzie commented: “I am very pleased to become Chairman of BAR at this important stage of its development. BAR has had great success in promoting the reinforcement industry and is now planning a wider range of services and representation. I am looking forward to leading this expansion of BAR’s activities”.
Martin Southcott is a Chartered Civil Engineer with 25 year’s experience in construction as well as 5-year period in industrial products following his MBA in the 1980s. For 13 years he was the Director of the Reinforced Concrete Council (RCC) and helped with the integration of the RCC as part of The Concrete Centre. “The reinforcement industry continues to make great strides in product and process efficiency and innovation,” he said. “BAR and its members are central to this programme of ongoing development. I am pleased to be part of the drive to further enhance the health and safety, structural and environmental performance of reinforcement.”
